January 29-February 2

READING 7:
This week, we will continue our practice with annotating and evaluating argumentative text. We will work on three whole-group practice article before dividing into small groups for rotations.
THURSDAY P. 1, 2: Finish "Beyond Thirst"evaluating arguments organizer if not finished in class. Bonus points if your step six synthesis paragraph is turned in tomorrow as well! :)
THURSDAY P. 3, 4, 5: Finish "Beyond Thirst"evaluating arguments organizer  for evidence pieces #1-6. Do not worry about the final 3 questions. We will do that tomorrow.


ENGLISH 9:
This week, we will continue working towards finishing our reading of Romeo and Juliet. We will continue reading and analyzing Act 4 and Act 5 with a focus on what dialogue reveals about a character and how dramatic irony contributes to the plot.

January 22-26

READING 7:
Monday through Wednesday will be spent working on "The Trial of SpongeBob SquarePants" in class as a way to review argumentative writing and prepare for the evaluation of argumentative text. All work will be completed in class, though students do have the option of working on their arguments outside of class on their own time. Thursday and Friday will be spent learning how to annotate argumentative text. There will be no formal homework this week.

ENGLISH 9:
We will begin the week by finishing Act 3 of Romeo and Juliet. There will be a test on the Act 1-3 study guide questions on TUESDAY. We will continue working our way through Act 4 from Wednesday through Friday.

January 15-19

READING 7:
Monday will be spent completing a TDA for our craft and structure unit. Tuesday will be a catch-up day for students to work on test corrections for the second marking period. Wednesday through Friday will be spent introducing the concept of evaluating arguments through a mini-mock trial in the classroom.

ENGLISH 9:
This week, we will wrap up our study of  Romeo and Juliet, Act 3. We will continue completing our study guides as well as look at how dialogue impacts our understanding of a character. There will be a mid-point test based off the study guide to review student understanding of the text thus far next TUESDAY, January 23.

January 8-12

READING 7:
We will wrap up our study of word meanings this week. There will be a quiz on TUESDAY. We will spend Wednesday and Thursday reviewing our craft and structure unit, then test on FRIDAY.

ENGLISH 9:
This week, we will continue with Romeo and Juliet, Act 3. As we read, we will continue working with our study guides as well as dive into sonnet form. After Act 3, there will be a mid-point test based off the study guide to review student understanding of the text thus far. The test date will be dependent upon our movement through the act.
