May 28-June 1

READING 7:
This week, we will watch the movie version of Wonder, comparing and contrasting the novel to the film version.


ENGLISH 9:
This week, we will watch "Zootopia" to compare and contrast the use of satire and allegory in the film to what is used in Animal Farm. Please make sure any missing work or corrections are submitted by Friday, June 1.

7th Grade - Checklist for Assessment

Make sure the following pages are completed in your Wonder workbook before your assessment begins tomorrow:

1. First three vocabulary charts. (Do not worry about Part 6, 7, 8)
2. Exposition, rising action, climax, and falling action charts. (We will do resolution before the assessment.)
3. Character charts for August, Via, Jack, Summer, and secondary characters.
4. Remember page of the Complexity Wheel.
5. Theme & imagery organizers in the extra packet.

READING 7:
This week, we wrap up our study of Wonder with a review of elements of plot. We will also begin our assessment this week.

MONDAY: Read page 265-274; Answer questions #8-11 from Part 8.
TUESDAY: Read page 275-288; Answer questions #12-16 from Part 8.
WEDNESDAY: Read page 289-310; Answer questions #17-21 from Part 8.
THURSDAY: In class Wonder assessment.
FRIDAY: In class Wonder assessment.


ENGLISH 9:
Our study of Animal Farm continues wraps up this week. We'll start off reviewing Benjamin's philosophies and how we can characterize him based on his quotations. Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent working on in-class essays. Essays are due by the end of class on WEDNESDAY. If you will be missing class due to sports, please make arrangements to submit your final essay before you leave. Thursday is an in-class review day and your test is FRIDAY.

We continue reading Wonder this week and dive deeper into our understanding of character, elements of plot, and literary elements.

WEDNESDAY: No reading homework. Work ahead! :)
THURSDAY: Read page 236-248; Answer questions #1-10 from Part 7.

Our study of Animal Farm continues his week. This week, we turn our focus to close reading and making connections to non-fiction text and real world elements within the text.

MONDAY: No out of class reading.
TUESDAY: Finish reading Ch. 9 for tomorrow. (Reading quiz!)
WEDNESDAY: Read Ch. 10 for Friday.

Our study of Animal Farm continues his week. This week, we turn our focus to close reading with rhetorical and propaganda techniques as well as analyzing the symbolism of the windmill and creating our own.

MONDAY: Finish reading Ch. 7 (pg. 73-89) for class tomorrow. There will be a reading quiz.
