READING 7:

WEDNESDAY: Author's purpose, position, & POV rotations 2. HW: Finish anything not completed in class.
THURSDAY: Author's purpose, position, & POV rotations day 3. HW: Finish anything not completed in class.
FRIDAY: Author's purpose, position, & POV quiz!

ENGLISH 9:
This week, we will continue our work with Romeo and Juliet Act 1. We will review Scenes 1 and 2 on Tuesday then complete our reading of Scene 3. On Wednesday, we will read Scene 4 and will work with Mercutio's Queen Mab speech on Thursday to work with imagery. Friday we will continue with Scene 5. Please expect one-question quizzers every day this week (with the exception of Tuesday). If you are absent, please make sure you are catching up on the reading and study guide questions.

November 20-24

READING 7:
This week we will be completing our second benchmarks on Study Island. The benchmarks are expected to be completed by Wednesday. If you feel that you need extra time, please see me for a pass to work on them during AC prep! :) Students showing growth from the first benchmark to the second will receive 5 bonus points. As you finish benchmarks, you will have a list of work you can complete: missing TDAs, Key Ideas & Details test corrections, check-in letter, silent reading, or enrichment activities. There will be no homework this week.


ENGLISH 9:
We will begin reading Act I of Romeo and Juliet this week. Study guides and margin notes will be completed as we read. There will be no formal homework this week, but if you are absent, please catch up on the reading. Wednesday will be our "Globe Theater Beauty Contest." If you want to participate, be sure to turn in your finished Globe Theater by Wednesday!

READING 7:

TUESDAY: Key ideas & details in informational text TDA.
WEDNESDAY: Group instruction on author's purpose, point of view, and perspective.
THURSDAY: Rotations day 1
FRIDAY: Rotations day 2
Any work not completed in class on Thursday and Friday becomes homework.


ENGLISH 9:
We will finish Elizabethan England presentations on Monday. The remainder of the week will be spent learning context for Romeo and Juliet. This week we will cover topics such as Elizabethan English language and vocabulary, sonnet structure, tone, puns, and oxymorons. Any homework will be work not completed in class.

November 6-10

READING 7:
Monday will be our final day of rotations for analyzing interactions among elements of nonfiction. Tuesday will be a five question quiz. Wednesday and Thursday will be review days for the unit test and Friday will be an in-class text-dependent analysis. The unit test will be MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13. A link to the Study Island review will be posted on your Study Island homepage's on Wednesday. Practice as much as you need!


ENGLISH 9:
Monday and Tuesday of this week will be spent in the library continuing work on our Elizabethan England presentations to set the context for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In the library, you are either researching information, putting information onto your presentation, or working on note cards for your presentation. Presentations will begin on WEDNESDAY, November 8, and should continue throughout the rest of the week.

May 28-June 1

READING 7: This week, we will watch the movie version of Wonder , comparing and contrasting the novel to the film version. ENGLISH 9: T...
