September 19-22

READING 7:
This week, students will continue working through connecting the process of close reading to the beginning stages of writing a Text Dependent Analysis response (TDA). We will continue working in groups and partners to find evidence in the text to support our answers and write explanations that show how our evidence proves our answer. Any homework will be posted here at the end of each class period and will most likely be any work left over from class.
WEDNESDAY: Period 1 - Finish TDA deconstruction if not finished in class.
THURSDAY: Period 3 & 4 - Finish final draft of TDA if not finished in class.


ENGLISH 9:
We will begin wrapping up our study of "A Quilty of a Country" with our focus on word choice and connotation and the impact these elements have on mood, tone, and author's purpose. Students will have a selection test (open book) on Wednesday. We will review our answers and make corrections on Wednesday before diving into our next piece, "The Immigrant Contribution" on Thursday. On Friday, students will have the opportunity to complete test corrections.  Any homework will be posted here at the end of each class period.
MONDAY HW: Finish Author's Style on pg. 21 (use worksheet provided in class) if not finished in class.
TUESDAY HW: Review notes for test tomorrow. It might be helpful to re-read "A Quilt of a Country" as a refresher.
WEDNESDAY: Open-book test on "A Quilt of a Country."
THURSDAY HW: Finish reading "The Immigrant Contribution" (pg. 23-29). Complete comprehension check questions for MONDAY.
